The truth behind the History of Softball

The history of softball. Did you ever wonder where it all began.

I can tell you that softball originated Chicago, in the Thanksgiving Day 1887. After a group of about twenty young men had met at a yacht club, to know the outcome of a match football. After the winner was announced, a man took a boxing glove on the left side and threw it at someone … then hit him with a club length.

A man named George Hancock is known in the history of softball, as the man who shouted: "Let's play ball!" He tied the boxing glove-shaped ball took out a diamond on the floor and found a broom handle to use as a bat.

This is how the idea was born softball game. Now, how This twisted version of baseball grow in the sport it is today?

George Hancock, the man who almost single-handedly invented the game of softball, created a ball Large, slightly smaller bat with a rubber tip on the end. He was also permanent and painted white foul lines on the gym floor and wrote new rules for the game he called "indoor baseball."

Indoor Baseball rapid spread internationally. Many played to keep practicing over the winter months, a great alternative to playing outside in the cold snow! When the climate warmed, the game moved outdoors and the new name "interior-exterior" was given to the sport. The sport exploded in popularity and Hancock published internal and external standards in 1889.

Another event important in the history of softball when the game was limited to about an hour in length, by cutting down seven entries. This happened because a firefighter has decided to adapt the game to keep his fellow firefighters availability between fire calls.

The game eventually was given the name "softball" in 1926 after a YMCA official suggested Denver. In 1933, softball was introduced to the rest of the world when he traveled with the World Fair.

A significant year in the history of softball was 1933. That was when the Amateur Softball Association was founded. This association standardized rules of the game, including rules on groups of different ages, sizes of balls and sizes of plots.

In 1939, softball was introduced in Australia and Canada introduced softball to the Netherlands Netherlands after the Second World War. Later, in 1962, softball was introduced in the United Kingdom, the first women's softball league was established in UK 1983.

The championships of the first women in the world fast pitch softball history was played in 1965 in Melbourne, Australia. The world championships first men in the history of softball was played in 1966 in Mexico City. Since 1970, the softball world championship tournaments are played every four years and in 1996, women's softball became an Olympic event.

Today, millions of people in the United States and the rest of the world softball game … me included!
