Royal Pythons?
im getting my settings to an adult royal python on Saturday. would be an exo-terranium Terra (the biggest they do) a good choice, or better to get a better tank that is not so high? please answer! thanks
As stated before, no reptiles, snakes included, only keep the size that allows your site. The growth rate has nothing to do with the site. A ball of adults can be comfortably housed in the aquarium 20 gallon long. Balls are not tree climbers and are actually Clumbsy. For a ball, you want a lot of floor space. The height is not necessary. It will rise if given something to climb, but do not want or need. They'll be just as happy without it. To enter the cage, if you do not need something nice to look, you can go the route that breeders and collectors of use. All my balls are in 32 quarts (long and flat) storage tubs, commonly used for sweaters. They are much cheaper than aquariums and can stack them without a rack. All you have to do is open a series of holes aound the side and the bottom line with newspaper or chipped poplar. Give him a big dish of water sufficient to submerge in a leather box and if you are nervous (skins are not always necessary in a bathtub as if in conventional aquariums as they are in such a small space), put a good tank heater under a regulator or thermostat at one end of the tub and there ya go! If you going to the aquarium, all the materials they need, but also need a pair of leather, one on the hot side and one on the cool side that your snake does not have to sacrifice the proper temps for security. Hope this helps. Travelers snake on the road. Balls rock!
