The history of baseball bat
Baseball was a sport very young, mid-nineteenth century, so batters usually their own bats. This led to a lot of experimentation with the shape and size baseball bat. It was not long for players to know that the better the bats with rounded barrels. With all shapes and sizes are used, a rule that was established on the bat. In 1859 it was established that bats Baseball could not be more than two and a half inches in diameter but may be of any length. After ten years, a restriction of 42 inches was placed on the length of the bat, but there are no regulations governing how.
1884: born the Louisville Slugger
Most popular name baseball bat, even today, is the Louisville Slugger. Seventeen year old John Hillerich watched Pete Browning breaking his bat in a 1884 game in Louisville. John observed as Pete Browning has frustrated after the game and offered to make him a new bat. Pete Browning joined John Hillerich in the carpentry shop of his father, where Pete oversaw construction of his new bat. Browning went three for three with his bat again. Word spread quickly, but not as fast as demand not once everyone knew about these bats. It was not long before each baseball bat that was slapped John and his father built with the famous brand Louisville Slugger.
Regulatory developments
In the 1890s, the bats could not be flat in the end, in accordance with the Commission regulation. They increased the diameter of a quarter inch, thus making the maximum diameter of two and three quarters of an inch. In the early twentieth century, one of the great players, Honus Wagner, was the first player paid to have his name engraved on Louisville Slugger bats. Despite the continuing evolution of regulations on the size and the shape of bats, the bats of today are much like those of a hundred years ago, the biggest difference is that today's bats are much lighter and thinner have handles.
The rise of aluminum
William Shroyer patented the first metal baseball bat in 1924, but were not seen in baseball, until introduced by Worth in 1970. Worth soon produced the first of a piece of aluminum bats and the first league aluminum baseball bat. Easton has a much stronger bat the late 70's. They shot the popularity of aluminum bats, although they were not allowed in Major League games. In 1993, both Easton and Worth bats titanium introduced, and in 1995 Easton and Louisville Slugger has the lightest grade of aluminum bats available so far. Continuing with the evolution of bats are double-walled aluminum and Scandium bats.
No matter what type of bat a player uses today, the sport remains a favorite the world. Not many can resist the sunny days and cool nights in the stands, with the sound of cracking, standing fans, and the smell of hot dogs in the air.
