Cage Guinea Pig Cage – four factors in choosing a good
What size cage is best for my pigs?
In reality, there is no best size for a guinea pig cage. The simple rule is: the bigger the better. However, there are minimum cage size guidelines that many organizations pig guinea pig rescue and advocacy groups recommend Guinea. A quick Internet search will reveal the following approximation of de facto standards for the dimensions of the cage minimum:
One of guinea pig: 6-7 square feet
Two guinea pigs: 7.5 square feet
Three guinea pigs: 10.5 square feet
Four guinea pigs: 13 square meters
Because guinea pigs are social creatures, we recommend keeping at least two guinea pigs together. For this reason, if you want your pigs to enjoy an optimum environment, you never have to consider a cage under 7.5 square meters
In general, the cages commercial (I like to refer to them as "pet store cages") tend to be less than 3 square meters. Much larger commercial cages are not easy to find and tend to be quite costly. For this reason, owners of Indian consciousness pigs tend to gravitate towards a popular kind of do-it-yourself kit or cages commonly or call C & C Cubes and Coroplast cages.
Do I have to worry about the word?
Definitely! Soil or ground wire fences are hard at the foot of the guinea pigs'. Rugged metal grilles can trap toes and legs or damage their delicate feet guinea pigs'. Imagine if you had to spend his life walking on metal rods suspended from a foot off the ground – in bare feet. Worse – Imagine trying to run on that surface.
Incidentally, the same applies when choosing a multi-level cage with a ramp. The ramp surface should not be covered with metal grids. Conclusion: avoid making cages pet ride in the metal bars or nets at all. For better health and safety of pork, the cage must have a soft plastic or metal bottom.
Is my Guinea Pig Cage must be completely fenced? Need a cap?
It depends on your situation. If your guinea pigs are sharing their house with "predators national (especially cats and small children) who definitely need a lid. If your house is free of such threats, after a cap is not necessary. Most of guinea pig cages and pens usually have at least 14 "walls. 1. Make sure the cage is sufficiently big for their guinea pigs to live a healthy and comfortable.
2. Avoid wire floors. They are extremely hard on the feet of his guinea pigs' legs and and injuries is a very real threat.
3. If possible, consider opening a pen or cage. It makes it more convenient to interact with your guinea pigs and also to clean and maintain their cage.
4. Large doors and openings are important to make your life much easier. Not only will they reduce your frustration level, that will save you a ton of time.
